I will admit I am addicted to candles...........I love them and burn candles ALL the time. There is just something about walking into a room and smelling something so inviting it just has you in a state of ahhhh......... I just want you to know Cindy has just started carrying these wonderful Pickwick Candles........every scent she has ordered is wonderful. So if you are looking for a Mother's Day gift this is your answer! They even come in a wonderful container. Even if you don't need one for a Mother's Day gift treat yourself...........you deserve it!
And I hope this project I am working on for Glitter Market works.........let's just say I am knee deep in ruffles, little pink clothes, lace and all sorts of little girl goodies...........you will just have to wait until then!
Have a great weekend.........so much to do and so much going on this time of year!
they may kill me but I need to brag a little............
To say it in a nutshell if it wasn't for Cindy and Bobbie we would of not had a Glittered Retreat with all the bells and whisles........
The art work for the entire retreat was all Bobbies graphic design and endless hours on the computer. This gal has it when it comes to design and getting the job done. The programs, the designs on the giveaway bags, the cards for the giveaways, name tags the apron girls wore, all the chandaliers in the dining room along with her wonderful vintage table cloths on the tables, not to mention her wonderful class she taught saturday morning. This girl is on the go and never stops......her talent, generosity and love for those who come through the Paper Crown door is incredible. I have enjoyed getting to know Bobbie a little better working so close to her getting ready for this event. Thank You Bobbie for sharing your creative talents and for always being so positive and getting the job done! You are amazing!
Now for Cindy ( my boss and friend, she hates me for calling her boss but she is) I don't even know how to begin but this gal is one of the most giving people I have ever been around. Cindy has always made me feel comfortable from the very first time I stepped into the store! We just clicked and I am so grateful for who she is and what she does for the gals who love the Paper Crown. When we started Glitter Market she wanted an event to showcase local artist.....from our first year til now it has grown to something we all look forward to every year......and to think she does this out of the goodness of her heart and the love for us who are vendors, because she is not it in to make money she does it because she loves giving back to the creative community! And for this we all say a huge thank you. Cindy has had this vision to have a Paper Crown retreat for a while and guess what she did it! Always giving back, ........before I just keep rambling I better stop because you all know how I feel about Cindy....she is one of a kind and I know everyone feels the same as I do. We all love you Cindy and want to Thank You once again for always putting us ahead of you! You are the best BOSS I have ever had........( Please don't hate me)
The photo above was saturday evening in the restaurant.....these two gave it 100% until they sat down!
enjoy your day...............
With everything that has been going on at the Paper Crown I have kinda neglected my classes! I am so sorry..........so I figured before Glitter Market I could squeeze one class in. Here it is......A Mother's Day Mirror/Fan. We will be using flocked paper on the side with the mirror and we will paint it and then gold leaf (si bring your gold leaf pens).........on the front, flocked paper with a little old fashion chair with rhinestones, beads, distressed ribbon and a shrink banner! I have photos to go into the frame of the chair or if you want to add a family memebers photo you can bring those photos, its up to you! The date of this class will be thursday evening April 24 5:30-8:00. You can call the store to reserve your spot or go by and look at the sample! Hope to see you all then.............
Day two was Bobbie's sweet wreath class ( I will have photos of those hopefully soon) in the morning!
Like I said yesterday I wasn't able to get photos of everything, if you know what I mean. The girls started each morning with a light breakfast.......we set up a breakfast nook in the back with hot coffee, juice, water, muffins, quiche, fruit, yogurt parfaits to get them started off the morning full and ready to go.( I hope someone got a photo of the little set up)
While class was going on we headed back upstairs to get lunch/tea party ready for the girls. We transformed the room once again. We took the candles out of the chandeliers and tied fresh flower bouquets with paper birds flying.........the tables were set once again with old tablecloths and the centerpieces were teapots filled with flowers and teacups at each placesetting.
Our swaps...........Our two sweet Lisa's were in charge of getting the swaps organized and set up. Not everyone was involoved but those who wanted to brought their shadow boxes and cone swaps. The first day Lisa Stanton was in charge. These are the boxes. So much talent in this room and on the table.
On day two Lisa Nix was in charge of the cone swap. Because of the awkwardness of the cones we could not just lay them out on the table like the boxes so I will just show you a few.........
This sweet little gal Kira came all the way from Utah to spend her weekend with Nan ( her mother) and all the rest of us older women! Thanks Kira for coming and putting up with all our craziness! You are a trooper! Come back anytime.
These are a few more sweet faces.....
Teresa from Duncan Oklahoma. Teresa has been a regular at the Paper Crown for years and we love it when she's around. One of the most positive people I know!
Sheryl from Duncan Oklahoma. Another sweet Duncan gal. Hope you come up more often with Teresa!
Maria from Peachtree Georgia. She probably looks familiar to you since she comes to the Paper Crown occasionally for classes. We love having Maria around.
We lost Myra for a while but she's back and we are so excited to have her creating again. She is from Edmond, Oklahoma!
Pam and Jan are from Moore Oklahoma. These two gals are oh so talented and provided the wonderful Muffins from Ingrid's on friday morning for breakfast. Thank You for being so generous!
Jan I apologize for this photo because I wanted everyone to see how awesome your nametag was. I know you won one of the prizes for the best and most unique nametag. It was amazing! Maybe someone else got a better photo than I did. I am so sorry. I don't know if I moved the camera while taking it but I feel horrible!
The 3 Musketeers below:
Kim, Debbie and Lisa. They are connected at the hip.........they always keep the party going! These gals never stop!
This is Becky from Edmond, Oklahoma! She is just as sweet and quiet as she looks!
This gal is Cindy from Oklahoma City. You can never tell a book by it's cover.........well that is what we have found out about this gal. She is one of the funniest students at the Paper Crown. We are so glad to have her around! And thanks Cindy for sitting with Robin, Shelly and Lisa I know they were a handful!
This is Lana all the way from San Francisco area! She has become a Paper Crown favorite and we love for her to visit. Hopefully one day she will bring her 5 sisters along. Thanks Lana for your support and friendship!
The four gals below are Glenda, Nancy, Peggy and Beth..............Between Glenda, Nancy and Beth they have taken more classes at the Paper Crown than anyone! These gals have been around for a long time. They are some of the most loyal students and so supportive of eveything we try.......THANK YOU! ( Peggy you are brave to be around these gals)
My individuals photos of 3 of these gals were out of focus.......sorry! Robin (top right ) is from Oklahoma City and lives the closest to the store. Next to Robin is Lisa Stanton from Tulsa Oklahoma. This gal comes to classes any time the doors are open if she isn't at another retreat somewhere! And sitting with her hand on hip is Shelley from TUTTLE Oklahoma! This is another gal who is on the go all the time. I think Shelley keeps a suitcase at the front door, and when someone even starts to say GO she is already in the car! We love em all...........! I already mentioned Cindy above.
This is Kay and she is from Oklahoma City. I hope you don't hate me for this but maybe you are licking your lips beacause the food was good. I don't know! Sorry..........Kay is another sweet soul that is always quiet but always creating something wonderful.
I hope you all don't hate me for posting these photos. And I hope I did not forget anyone. If I did I apologize ......... I just wanted to share with everyone how wonderful you all were and how much we enjoyed you all joining the Paper Crown team for our very first Glittered Retreat. Thanks for believeing in us and for your support! Like we have said before we would not have the store if it wasn't for you!
Hopefully by tomorrow I will have some photos of Bobbie and Medeah's Classes! But for now I think I will leave you once again with this really really long post!
have a great tuesday everyone...........I'm off on a little girls shopping trip today!
I really don't even know how to start this post this morning.........words are really not adequate for all the memories we experienced this past weekend so maybe some of these photos and sweet faces will tell the story.........enjoy!
Good Morning Girls.........after a lite breakfast these girls were all ready to start the day........
Lunch...........and the big reveal of our new beautiful whimsical room.........
On the back of each chair the girls received their canvas bags full of goodies......
how bout this group..........the apron girls......we loved every minute!
after lunch these gals all headed to the RINK..........
they shopped and tehn were treated to strawberry cupcakes and art magazines..........
Then back to the Paper Crown for dinner and Holly's evening class.............
Dinner under the lights of these beautiful white chandeliers Bobbie and Randy graciously let us use! So much fun to see the lights light up the room!
What about and old suitcase hanging from the ceiling to hold their eating utensils.............
You know when you are in the middle of all this you want to capture everything going on and have photos of everything..........but the problem is it is impossible. Hopefully between all the others who have taken photos we captured all we could. We were excited when Savannah ( Professional Photographer and Bobbie's sweet daughter) came to take some photos on saturday. We will all be excited to see those! Thanks Savannah to take the time out in your busy schedule!
I think between these two gals they totaled 1 million times up and down the stairs over the weekend! ( sorry this is a little yellow and out of focus )
And this gal took orders from all of us........Thanks Amy for always willing to do what each of us asked you to do without any complaints and always a smile on your face!
I know this is a looooooooong post so I think day two will have to wait until tomorrow! Hope you enjoyed these........all you who attended we could not of asked for a more wonderful group of creative souls! You all were a joy to teach and hopefully you enjoyed the weekend as much as we did!
Next weekend will be our first Paper Crown Glittered Retreat. The project I will be teaching is this sweet little old fashion undergarment hanging from an old coat hanger with a little hideaway opening under the picture frame to hold a small photo book...........the photos can be added later in the book and if the girls want to use their own photo in the frame it can be added later too!
Our retreat is less than a week and last minute preparations are taking place! We are so excited! See all you who have signed up next week.
One of the things about teaching classes is trying to remember how you made it and to make sure you have all of the products you will need to complete the project! I have forgotten plenty of times how I have constructed something and if you have been in one of my classes you will know what I mean. I try to write things down and take pictures but once in a while it slips up and you just have to admit you forgot! ( and the reason is sometimes you make something for a class sample and the class isn't for 2 months) And many many times we run out of supplies or can't find enough of what we need. With the retreat coming up it's not just something you can put together in a day. All of the teachers will agree with me. It takes a little time to make the kits and to be sure you have made it as easy and our time allowed for the student so they can go home with a complete project. So this is what my table looks like this week. It looks like a Shrink factory..........
I may be a little slacking on the blog in the next week because of getting ready for retreat but just hang with me and I will try to do my best..........
Happy tuesday everyone........
these little legs are back..........these legs have been around for several years in classes.......big, little, nametags you name it and they have been used! Just something about them make me think fun and girly...........this is just a sneak peek........they will be available saturday May 3 at our Spring Glitter Market!
